ABOUT KIMBERLY LaPAGLIA
Kimberly’s love of travel began with childhood vacations with her parents, extended family, and even neighborhood families. Many of these adventures included camping trips throughout New York State. Trips to Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Myrtle Beach, Daytona Beach, and the Bahamas were uniquely memorable.
A sixth grade trip to Florida to visit her grandparents featured an excursion to Walt Disney World. From then on, WDW became a favorite destination. In the years to follow, this special interest (maybe obsession!) was shared with the person who would become her lifetime traveling companion — Michael. They have dreamed up many trips to Disney destinations since their first visit to Disney World. Memorable vacations include a honeymoon at the Grand Floridian, a Disney cruise in the Mediterranean, a vow renewal at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion, and stays at Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort. Kim even shared her passion for all things Mouse-related when she was selected for the inaugural Walt Disney World Moms Panel in 2008 and inaugural Disney Cruise Line Mom in 2009. As a Disney Mom, she helped countless families plan their own dream-filled journeys.
Kim has also seen many road miles on trips with her family. She truly believes that a family will discover just as many memorable moments along the way to their destination. In summer 2016, the LaPaglia family drove 5,000 miles seeking out special interest museums, road side attractions, and beautiful vistas. Visiting historical places, scenic outlooks, and informative museums are some of her favorite travel spots. She’s currently looking forward to her third cruise aboard Oasis of the Seas.
In between travels, Kim enjoys reading, writing, and every day family life. She loves baking, puzzles, shopping, and way too many television shows. Home decorating and holiday planning are favorite pastimes as well.
As a stay-at-home mom turned work-from-home mom, Kim has been grateful for all the opportunities that have enhanced her role as mom. Some of these include room mom, book fair chairperson, public relations board member, chaperone, special events chairperson, and playdate coordinator. During her son’s high school years, Kim spent many hours volunteering for her son’s marching band and family-friendly parties. Her real world work is centered around another special passion — Editor of the Disney Food Blog.
ABOUT MICHAEL LaPAGLIA
Michael began his love for travel with a childhood trip to Disneyland, a high school journey to France, and a college Spring Break vacation (with Kim!) to Washington, D.C.
Travels to Walt Disney World sparked Michael’s interest in Walt Disney. He’s also a lifelong fan of Star Wars and can’t wait for Disney’s Hollywood Studios to unveil Star Wars Land.
In addition to the amazing journeys he has taken with his wife and son over the past 2 decades, Michael is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with 25 uninterrupted years of employment experience in the behavioral mental health field and special education. Much of that time, he has been providing behavioral treatment, supervision, training, and clinical consultation with families, mental health agencies, and special educators, relating to children exhibiting challenging behaviors and those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. One of Michael’s passions is teaching graduate level courses for Lipscomb University in Nashville.
During his limited free time, you’ll find Michael in his theater room watching movies, cruising in his Z4, cooking a delicious meal, working on house projects, and spending hilarious moments with his family. Wherever he is, a cup of coffee is nearby.
ABOUT NICOLAS LaPAGLIA
Nicolas had his first journey on a Lear Jet. Born three months premature, his plane ride (to transport between hospitals) happened at eight weeks of age! Nic is fond of all modes of transportation — trains, planes, taxis, ships, and cars.
His first vacation was to Virginia Beach at 9 months old. By age 3, he had visited WDW twice. He’s been to the Mouse’s House so often that he knows how to get around the entire resort on his own and will tell you where the best places are for a sandwich or snack.
Like his parents, Nic also has an interest in history. From Ford’s Theater in Washington, D.C. to Mission Control at Space Center Houston to the Normandy beaches in France, Nic has enjoyed visiting all types of historical places.
Michael and Kim are teaching Nic to follow his passions. And he now attends Auburn University where he is studying aerospace engineering. He graduated summa cum laude from high school, was brass captain in his high school marching band, and has attended two Space Camps in Huntsville, Alabama. The family’s motto is “work hard, play hard”. Nic volunteered at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center to earn hours for National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society.
An AU freshman, Nic plays trumpet in the Auburn University Marching Band.
